On Monday afternoon, 74-year-old Duane R Burstad, of Deer Park, suffered injuries following a traffic collision on Interstate 90 in West Plains.
As per the initial information, the two-vehicle crash took place on Interstate 90 at around 4:30 p.m. The preliminary investigation indicated that Duane R Burstad was driving his 1998 Dodge Ram Pickup east when his truck went over the center median. The collision happened between the exits for state Highway 902 and state Highway 904.
Burstad continued into the westbound lanes, where his vehicle smashed into an oncoming semi-truck. Due to the impact, the semi-truck rolled over, landing on its right side in the ditch. The driver of the semi, 23-year-old Jack Weidenbach, of Ellensburg, was released at the scene. On the other hand, Burstad’s vehicle landed in the center median.
He was not buckled up at the time of the accident. On arrival, paramedics rushed Burstad to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He was listed in serious condition as of Tuesday afternoon. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is continuing.
