A 19-year-old woman lost her life following a two-vehicle accident Tuesday in the northeast Las Vegas Valley.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at about 12 p.m. Jan. 18 near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Walnut Road. The preliminary reports showed that a 2004 Toyota Corolla was heading southbound on Las Vegas Boulevard and while north of Walnut, the driver failed to maintain his travel lane and drove into the median.
The Corolla then rolled over and slid into the path of a 2018 Kia Soul driving northbound, resulting in the collision. The driver of the Kia, a 59-year-old man from Las Vegas, and passenger of the Toyota were rushed to University Medical Center, where the passenger, a 19-year-old woman, succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, a 22-year-old man from Las Vegas, remained at the scene and was not impaired at the time of the accident. Las Vegas Boulevard was closed down in both directions from Walnut to Cheyenne Avenue during the investigation.
The crash remains under review.
