Woman dead after being hit by a truck at a Tempe bus stop (Tempe, AZ)

A woman lost her life after being hit by a truck Friday morning while waiting at a Tempe bus stop.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place near Warner and Rural roads. As per the initial information, the driver of a truck was heading southbound on Rural Road at about 5:30 a.m. Friday when he lost control and went into the northbound lanes. He then hopped a curb and struck a woman who was seated at a bus stop.

The woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene despite the life-saving efforts by the paramedics. Police initially said the older male driver had been detained, but later reported that the man cooperated with police. It is unknown if impairment was involved in the crash. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
