Woman dead after a two-vehicle collision on Eastex Freeway (Houston, TX)

A woman lost her life following a two-vehicle accident Friday on Eastex Freeway.

As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place on Interstate 59 near Quitman Street, cutting off all northbound lanes a little before noon. Lanes had reopened since then. The early reports showed that a woman was traveling north on the freeway when her car stopped at once and veered in front of a pickup truck. Just then, the truck rear-ended the woman’s car.

The woman suffered major injuries and was declared dead at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and was not injured. Officers believe that the woman might have suffered a medical episode just before the accident. The authorities shut down multiple lanes of the Eastex Freeway north of downtown as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
