63-year-old man died, 3 seriously injured after a head-on crash in Chesterfield Township (Chesterfield Township, MI)

A 63-year-old man lost his life and three others, including a teen and a child were seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Chesterfield Township.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place on Gratiot Avenue, just south of 26 Mile Road. The preliminary reports showed that a 63-year-old Casco Township man was driving his SUV on Gratiot Avenue just south of 26 Mile Road when he failed to maintain control on the snow and slush-covered road at 10:46 a.m.

The man, traveling in the northbound lanes, slipped into the southbound lanes where it collided head-on with another vehicle. A 28-year-old Columbus Township woman and her 2-year-old daughter and 14-year-old niece were in the vehicle hit. They received serious injuries and were taken to a hospital where they are stable. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
