A single-vehicle crash killed 1 person in Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara, CA)

On early Saturday morning, a man lost his life following a traffic collision in Santa Barbara.

As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place just past midnight at the 700 block of Shoreline Drive. The preliminary investigation showed that a silver Toyota pickup truck swerved off the roadway and crashed into a large palm tree. On arrival, emergency personnel freed the 27-year-old male driver who was pinned inside the vehicle.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The man and his passenger were taken to Cottage Hospital Emergency Room where the man later died of his injuries. The passenger was in serious condition. No other details are available.

An investigation is continuing.
