A 12-year-old Ixatlali Anahli Moreno and 53-year-old Ana Delia Arriaga were injured following a two-vehicle accident in Laredo.
The preliminary reports showed that a white 2012 Nissan Rogue and a white 2019 Ford F-750 work truck collided with each other in the 5300 block of Interstate 35 in front of Mall del Norte at around 4:44 p.m. Monday. The reports also suggested that the Nissan had broken down and stopped due to mechanical issues and was left inoperable in the middle lane.
Just then, the Ford struck the Nissan from behind and pushed it into the middle divider of the highway. Ana Delia Arriaga, 53, and Ixatlali Anahli Moreno, 12, were pinned inside the Nissan due to the impact. On arrival, emergency responders rescued and rushed both the victims to Doctors Hospital, but only Moreno was flown to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition.
The authorities identified the driver of the Ford as 41-year-old Jose De Jesus Solorzano Lopez. Officials believe that intoxication did not play a factor in the collision. Solorzano Lopez volunteered to have a blood sample drawn, which will be submitted to a Texas Department of Public Safety crime lab for a toxicology exam as per procedure in these cases.
The incident remains under investigation.
