Man dead, woman injured after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 178 (Bakersfield, CA)

On Tuesday, a 25-year-old man lost his life while a 68-year-old woman from Wofford Heights received injuries following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 178.

As per the initial information, the fatal incident occurred at about 5:15 p.m. at the top of the Kern River Canyon. The early reports indicated that a 25-year-old man was westbound on the freeway when his vehicle went into the shoulder.

He allowed his vehicle to veer into the other lane where it crashed head-on into a Ford Explorer. The man died of his injuries at the scene. The woman driving the Ford Explorer incurred only minor injuries. Officials said that drugs or alcohol did not seem to be involved in the collision.

An investigation is ongoing.
