On Monday, a 7-year-old girl was hurt after being hit by an SUV driver, who came out of the vehicle, handed the child to neighbor and then drove away from the scene.
The Metro Detroit father was outraged after her daughter got struck by the vehicle. The preliminary reports showed that the driver of that vehicle pulled over at the scene, stepped out of the vehicle, picked the girl up and then handed the child to neighbors.
The incident took place in a Detroit neighborhood on Addison Street. The reports also revealed that an excited 7-year-old girl with a dollar in her hand was walking down the steps of a front porch and onto the street because there was an ice cream truck there.
Just then, she was hit by an oncoming SUV. She was sent tumbling down the street due to the impact. The driver then exited the vehicle, picked up the girl and handed her to a neighbor. Afterwards, the driver backed up so no one could see his plate and then took off.
The father mentioned that his daughter is out of the hospital with scrapes on her face and head. She did not receive any major injuries. The father of the little girl further stated that they checked her in the hospital and that everything is going to be okay.
However, he was not fine with the the driver backing away after hitting the little girl. He thought that the driver would stop and call 911 for help. The street where the child was struck on has new speed bumps and lots of children.
The incident remains under active review.
