On Saturday morning, one person was killed after a vehicle hit a motorcycle on the east side of town.
As per the initial information, the fatal accident took place at about 9:55 AM close to Lake Mead and Marion Dr. in which an SUV and a motorcycle were involved. Following the crash, all the lanes were closed down near the area from Lamb to Nellis Blvd.
The preliminary investigation showed that a black 2006 Honda CBR 600 was traveling east on East Lake Mead while a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was going west. The reports also indicated that Tahoe was preparing to turn left onto Marion Drive when it struck the motorcycle.
On arrival, paramedics rushed the motorcycle rider to UMC Trauma where she was later declared dead. The driver of the Tahoe left the scene after the collision, but was later arrested by the authorities. The Tahoe’s driver reportedly did not display any signs of impairment, but was booked for hit and run charges. As of 3:28 PM, all lanes have opened again in the area.
The incident remains under review.
