On Tuesday afternoon, an 80-year-old woman lost her life while a 34-year-old woman suffered injuries following a two-vehicle collision in east Las Vegas.
Officers actively responded to the area of Flamingo Road and Burnham Avenue at around 3:20 p.m. after getting reports of a crash. The preliminary investigation showed that a 2012 Ford F15 pickup truck and a 2017 Forest River Van were involved in the accident.
The van reportedly went through the intersection on a green light, while the truck did not stop for a red light as a result of which both vehicles collided with each other. The truck’s driver, a 47-year-old Las Vegas man, remained on scene and was not believed to be impaired.
On arrival, medics transported both occupants of the van, a 34-year-old woman and an 80-year-old woman, to Sunrise Hospital with non-life-threatening. Several hours later, officers were informed that the older woman had succumbed to her injuries.
An investigation into the crash is continuing.
