The catalog acquisition company, Open On Sunday, is working on a new, unreleased B.B. King album. Speaking to a panel during IndieWeek 2025, the company announced that the album will be released on its 50th anniversary.

Open on Sunday, which owns the rights to part of the B.B. King’s catalog is working on a 50th anniversary release of “Lucille Talks Back.” Adrienne Muhammad, Director Of Sync at Open On Sunday, broke the news to the audience at IndieWeek 2025.

“We are in the process now of working on a release of his album called ‘Lucille Talks Back,’” Muhammad revealed, adding, “For some reason, this album was never released.”

Muhammad added, “A super fan discovered the album and uploaded it on YouTube. It contains eight amazing songs. We’re working with our sync team for sync marketing and brand partnerships to bring that album to life — to you guys.”

Muhammad was speaking at a panel titled ‘The Back Catalog Blueprint: From Old Tracks to New Profit.’

The discussion focused on how the value of a label’s back catalog has never been greater than it is today — within a music industry that is evolving more dynamically than ever before in history.

The speakers explored a multitude of innovative strategies for maximizing revenue for labels and artists. They also covered how leveraging existing catalogs can massively boost artist visibility.

Other topics on the agenda were trends in playlist optimization and micro-licensing strategies. The speakers discussed novel methods to amplify fan engagement, leveraging data-driven marketing, and expanding sync opportunities for artists.

The panel also shed light on how forward-thinking artists turn their musical legacy and old tracks into a springboard for success.

While artists plan for future releases, they must optimize their existing catalog and breathe new life into it with sync.

Here’s a list of the panelists speaking at the panel, ‘The Back Catalog Blueprint: From Old Tracks to New Profit.’
