On Monday, two people were left in a hospital after a vehicle rammed into a tree in Sterling Heights.
As per the initial information, at about 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 6, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office actively responded to the area of 12000 block of 15 Mile Road on reports of a single-vehicle crash. The preliminary reports showed that 38-year-old Jackson man, who was driving the vehicle, failed to navigate the curve in the road and struck a tree head on.
On arrival, the emergency crews rescued the driver and the only other passenger before they were taken to the hospital for non-fatal injuries. Deputies found a large amount of packaged marijuana and evidence of weapons inside the vehicle. Alcohol and marijuana use are suspected to be contributing factors in the accident.
The incident remains under active review.
