A vehicle struck and knocked down a fire hydrant in Sandy Springs (Sandy Springs, GA)

On Wednesday morning, a driver crashed their car into a fire hydrant in Sandy Springs.

The incident took place on Powers Ferry Road and Dudley Lane in Sandy Springs. As per the initial reports, a car hit and knocked over a fire hydrant at the intersection. Officers shut down one lane of southbound traffic while emergency responder worked to get the hydrant closed.

It is unknown at this time that when the road will reopen and the extent of damage of the car and the fire hydrant. Officials have not confirmed if the driver suffered any injuries as a result of the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
