On early Tuesday morning, 33-year-old Darren Bordelon II and 65-year-old Jimmy Smith lost their lives while another person was injured following a multi-vehicle accident at Hwy 28 East by Pinehurst Drive.
The wreck took place at about 5:35 a.m. on Hwy 28 East. Darren Bordelon II, 33, a resident of Deville, passed away at a local hospital from injuries received in the crash. Jimmy Smith, 65, a resident of Pineville, was declared deceased at the scene.
A third victim sustained moderate injuries. The current condition of the third patient is unknown at this time. The circumstances that have led up to the crash remain unknown at this time. No other details are immediately available at this time.
An investigation is continuing.
