89-Year-Old Fred Gunn Jr. Killed In A Multi-Vehicle Accident In Houston County (Houston County, TX)

Tragedy struck near Crockett as an elderly Kennard man, Fred Gunn, Jr., 89, lost his life in a two-vehicle crash on Monday morning. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the multi-vehicle accident at 10:25 a.m. on State Highway 21, approximately seven miles northeast of Crockett.

The preliminary report suggests that Gunn was driving southwest on Highway 21 when his Ford pickup experienced a blowout. This led the vehicle into the oncoming lane, where it collided head-on with a Freightliner truck tractor.

Following the impact, Gunn’s vehicle caught fire, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner escaped without injuries. The fatal crash is currently under investigation.
