On Monday, authorities identified 86-year-old Irene Torres, of Waco, as the woman who lost her life following a traffic collision Friday in Limestone County.
The fatal two-vehicle accident took place at around 5:50 p.m. on U.S. 84 near CR 126, just west of Prairie Hill. The preliminary reports showed that the driver of a Toyota Tacoma was heading eastbound when the driver tried to “make a U-turn in an area with limited visibility.” While making the U-turn, the Toyota was hit by a truck tractor semi-trailer that was going eastbound.
Torres, a passenger in the Toyota, was rushed to Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest, where she was later died of her injuries. The driver of the Toyota was taken to Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest with non-fatal injuries. The incident did not cause any other injuries. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
