On Tuesday afternoon, a 57-year-old pedestrian suffered injuries after getting hit by a vehicle while trying to cross the road near Alpine Avenue.
As per the initial information, the auto-pedestrian crash took place moments before 1 p.m. in the 3300 block of Alpine Avenue NW. The preliminary investigation showed that two pedestrians were attempting to cross the road when a 20-year-old Rockford driver hit one of them while traveling northbound on Alpine NW. The pedestrians were midblock and not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The 57-year-old Walker resident who got hit sustained serious injuries. The driver and the other pedestrian remained uninjured. Officials closed a portion of the road as crews attended to the injured and cleared the scene. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
