30-year-old Jennifer Young and her 3-year-old son lost their lives after getting hit by a vehicle late Monday on Interstate 20 in Mesquite.
As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the 17700 block of westbound I-20 near High Country Lane in Kaufman County after getting reports of an auto-pedestrian accident at around 11 p.m.
The preliminary reports showed that a woman’s BMW was disabled after her car collided with another car. The woman and her 3-year-old son were fleeing the car when they were struck by an oncoming vehicle. Police initially mentioned that the woman’s car had stalled.
Jennifer Young, 30, of Benbrook and her 3-year-old son were declared dead by first responders. The incident did not cause any other injuries. A freightliner towing a trailer also struck the BMW, which was in the middle of the roadway. The westbound lanes of I-20 were shut down early Tuesday, but reopened about 7 a.m. No other information is available.
An investigation is ongoing.
