30-year-old Jennifer Young and her 3-year-old son lost their lives after getting hit by a vehicle late Monday on Interstate 20 in Mesquite.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the 17700 block of westbound I-20 near High Country Lane in Kaufman County after getting reports of an auto-pedestrian accident at around 11 p.m.

The preliminary reports showed that a woman’s BMW was disabled after her car collided with another car. The woman and her 3-year-old son were fleeing the car when they were struck by an oncoming vehicle. Police initially mentioned that the woman’s car had stalled.

A freightliner towing a trailer also struck the BMW, which was in the middle of the roadway.
