On Saturday morning, a driver crashed their vehicle into a curbside baggage stand outside Detroit Metropolitan Airport’s McNamara Terminal after having a medical emergency.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place at about 7:45 a.m. The preliminary reports showed that male driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle and struck a Skycap stand at the terminal’s departures level.
The driver incurred minor injuries and two other people hit by the debris from the crash also received minor injuries. One of those victims was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The only passenger in the car was not hurt.
Two lanes of traffic were temporarily shut down at the departures level, but airport operations were not affected. At this time, it is unknown what type of medical emergency led to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
