The California Highway Patrol reported a single-vehicle accident on Thursday.
The accident occurred in the area of County Road 32A between Mace Boulevard and County Road 105.
According to the authorities, a Ford was driving at a high speed on Interstate 80 towards Mace Boulevard when it veered off the roadway and crashed.
There were two people killed and a third injured in the accident. The driver and the front seat passenger died due to the extent of their injuries. The third passenger is in critical condition.
The identities of the victims have not been disclosed.
The fatal accident is still being investigated. The officials have not revealed the reason why the car veered off the roadway.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
