Authorities identified 18-year-old Jasmine Alhachami, a student at Anderson High School in Southgate, as the teen who lost her life following a two-vehicle accident over the weekend at a busy intersection in Woodhaven.
The fatal car crash took place just after 10 p.m. at the intersection of West and Allen Roads. According to the investigation reports, a black Lexus was traveling east on West Road when the driver ignored a red light. The vehicle came into the path of the GMC, which was going south on Allen. Alhachami, a passenger in one of the vehicles, succumbed to her injuries several hours later.
On arrival, responders found a woman holding her two dogs outside of her black GMC Terrain. A Good Samaritan informed an officer that four occupants inside a black 2000 Lexus were conscious and breathing. The officer tended to those victims before the arrival of emergency vehicles. The driver of the Lexus and another passenger were going through surgery for their injuries.
The woman in the GMC and another person in the Lexus were provided medical aid and released from the hospital. Officials have not provided any details about the other people involved in the accident. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. No other details are made available.
An investigation is continuing.
