On Saturday night, a 16-year-old Jenison girl was hurt following a traffic accident west of Hudsonville.
Officers quickly responded to the 48th Avenue north of Chicago Drive (M-121) at about 9:40 PM after getting reports of a three-vehicle wreck. On arrival, responders learned that there were two separate crashes, a single-vehicle property damage crash and a two-vehicle injury crash.
The early reports showed that a white Chevy Mailbu was southbound on 48th Avenue when the driver failed to maintain control and crashed into a field on the west side of the road. A witness in a silver pickup pulled over for help, partly blocking the southbound lane.
At some point of time, a brown Volvo S60 that was southbound on 48th Avenue swerved into the northbound lane, in order to avoid a crash with the silver pickup, but the vehicle ended up colliding with a black Ford Fusion, which was northbound on 48th Avenue.
The 16-year-old girl driving the black car incurred only minor injuries and refused medical aid at the scene. The other two drivers remained uninjured. The driver of the Volvo, a 65-year-old Hudsonville man, was ticketed for careless driving. The roadway was shut down for more than an hour as crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.
An investigation is continuing.
