1 dead after a vehicle crashes into a tree in southwest Houston (Houston, TX)

On Monday afternoon, one person was killed after a single-vehicle accident in southwest Houston.

As per the early information, the fatal incident took place in the 5500 block of West Fuqua Street, close to Beltway 8 at about 4:15 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that a gray four-door sedan apparently crashed into a tree for reasons that are yet to be known.

The driver suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain unknown at this time. Officials advised the motorists to avoid the area. No other details are immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
