When Karrin Taylor Robson launched her 2026 campaign for governor, she did so with a coveted endorsement from President Donald Trump — something she was banking on to reverse her fortunes from 2022, when she lost the GOP primary to the Trump-endorsed Kari Lake.
But Trump on Monday scrambled that political calculus when he announced he was also endorsing Andy Biggs, Robson’s chief opponent in the bid to be the Republican nominee who challenges Gov. Katie Hobbs next November.

Trump gave an enthusiastic endorsement of Biggs, a four-term Congressman from Gilbert and longtime Trump ally, in a post on his social media site, Truth Social. But the president also wrote that he would continue to support Karrin Taylor Robson, who he endorsed in December, before she even announced her plan to run for the office.
“I like Karrin Taylor Robson of Arizona a lot, and when she asked me to Endorse her, with nobody else running, I Endorsed her, and was happy to do so,” Trump wrote in the social media post. “When Andy Biggs decided to run for Governor, quite unexpectedly, I had a problem — Two fantastic candidates, two terrific people, two wonderful champions, and it is therefore my Great Honor TO GIVE MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT TO BOTH. Either one will never let you down. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Biggs announced his plan to run for governor in late January.
This isn’t the first time Trump has endorsed multiple Republican opponents in an important Arizona election. After initially endorsing former candidate for attorney general, Abe Hamadeh, in last year’s Republican primary to represent Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, Trump also threw his backing behind Hamadeh’s opponent, venture capitalist Blake Masters, just a few days before the election.
Hamadeh went on to take the seat in the general election.
Both Biggs and Robson thanked Trump for his endorsement on Monday.
“THANK YOU, MR. PRESIDENT!,” Robson said on the social media site X. “Today, @realDonaldTrump reaffirmed what he told me in December when he urged me to run on stage: That he supports me & has fully endorsed my Arizona First campaign.”
“Thank you, @realDonaldTrump!” Biggs wrote on X. “It’s been an honor to support you and fight for your agenda since 2016. I look forward to fighting along side you as Governor of Arizona, the greatest state in the nation!”
Neither the Robson or Biggs campaigns immediately responded to a request for comment on the double endorsement.
The winner of the 2026 Republican primary for Arizona governor will likely face Hobbs in the general election. Hobbs beat Lake by more than 17,000 votes to take the office in 2022.
