Seeker Music has announced a trio of catalog plays, one involving the work of “Down” and “Ride It” artist Jay Sean (real name Kamaljit Singh Jhooti).
M&G Investments-founded Seeker formally disclosed the IP acquisitions today. Beginning with London-born Sean, the purchaser opted against divulging ownership or financial details in its official release; a rep only confirmed to DMN that the deal is “inclusive” of the 44-year-old’s publishing.
In any event, Sean has songwriting credits on a number of well-known works, and his newest releases dropped via his own label, 3AM Entertainment.
Regarding the investments’ other components, the company has also taken an interest in the IP of longtime Sean collaborator Robert “Bobby Bass” Larow, who co-wrote and -produced “Do You Remember.”
Besides his work with Sean, the Orange Factory Music co-founder Bobby Bass has credits on tracks popularized by Big Time Rush, Britney Spears, and Usher, among several more.
“Joining the Seeker Music catalog is both an honor and an exciting new chapter,” Bass added in part. “[CEO] Evan Bogart and the team have built something truly visionary, a company that balances deep creative respect with a sharp, strategic view of where music is headed. Evan’s instinct for recognizing not just great songs, but the markets and moments they can thrive in, is what sets Seeker apart.”
Lastly, in terms of the purchases’ scope, Seeker in the same release announced it’d scooped up the publishing catalog of Cardiak (real name Carl McCormick).
The 37-year-old has credits on efforts from Meek Mill, Rick Ross, Drake, and T.I., to name just a few.
“I’m super hype to announce the sale of my music catalog, a collection that represents years of passion and creativity,” commented Cardiak. “Partnering with Seeker marks a new chapter, and I’m excited to see how they will bring this music to new audiences while preserving its essence.”
Rounding out the statements, Seeker head Evan Bogart reiterated the relevant works’ reach and touched on his business’s wider goals for the IP.
“Seeker only invests in music we genuinely love,” Bogart added. “Jay Sean’s global hits are more than just songs, they’ve been part of our story, soundtracking our lives for over 15 years. You still hear them everywhere, and they resonate as strongly today. That’s the kind of impact we look for.
“With Robert Larow’s incredible songwriting catalog and Cardiak’s genre-defining work across hip-hop and R&B, we’re bringing together catalogs that have not only topped charts but continue to shape culture in lasting ways. We’re grateful for the opportunity to celebrate and champion these legacies, ensuring these timeless songs keep reaching new audiences around the world,” concluded Bogart, whose company is said to boast an “over 17,000+ copyright-strong catalog.”
