A single-vehicle crash south of Sarcoxie left a 38-year-old woman dead and a 41-year-old man seriously injured, according to a preliminary report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at approximately 6:52 p.m. on July 9 on County Road 60, south of Newton Road, about two miles southwest of Sarcoxie in Jasper County, the Patrol's Troop D reported.

A 2019 Dodge Charger was traveling northbound when the crash occurred, according to the Patrol's online crash report. The female passenger, of Granby, Missouri, sustained fatal injuries and was transported for medical treatment. The male driver, also of Granby, suffered serious injuries and was likewise taken for treatment.

Light drizzle was falling in the area at the time, according to weather data, with temperatures around 77 degrees.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which was assigned incident number 260288658.
