Sony Music Central America & Caribbean makes a big splash into the Dominican market through a new partnership with Santiago Matias’ Alofoke Music.
Sony Music Central America and Caribbean (CAC) has announced a strategic partnership with Alofoke Music Group in a bid to harbor a larger mark on the Dominican music industry. The collaboration aims to promote Dominican music and artists globally, focusing on growing genres like reggaeton, dembow, and bachata.
The partnership will leverage Santiago “Alofoke” Matias’ strong presence and influence in the Dominican music scene, including its digital platforms and artist relationships. In utilizing Sony Music’s global distribution and marketing capabilities, the partnership is expected to create new opportunities for Dominican artists, providing them access to Sony’s expansive resources for development, promotion, and reach.
Additionally, the deal sees Sony Music CAC as the exclusive distributor of all forthcoming Alofoke releases, while acquiring the label’s catalog. Alofoke Music has generated over 762 million global streams to date. That includes viral hits like “Que Linda” by Lomieel, Donaty and Papera, and “Baje Con Trenza” by El Cherry Scom and Ozuna.
In particular, Alofoke Music has been a driving force in expanding the reach of Dominican dembow, especially through Matias’ YouTube and his Santo Domingo radio show.
“This alliance is the result of a shared vision rooted in innovation and legacy, with our eyes firmly set on the future of music,” said Matias. “Partnering with Sony Music not only validates the years of work we’ve poured into building a platform for talent, it opens the door for new generations to break barriers and take their sound to global audiences.”
“We’re thrilled to join forces with Alofoke, who is a monumental figure in the music and media space in the Dominican Republic and beyond,” added Sony Music CAC President Melissa Exposito. “What he represents in terms of community, culture, and championing talent aligns perfectly with our vision.”
