Two people were injured Thursday evening when a northbound SUV and a southbound pickup collided on MO-NN near Iris Rd, about seven miles north of Neosho, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The patrol's preliminary online crash report identifies the vehicles as a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox headed north and a 2020 Jeep Gladiator headed south. The crash was reported around 6:45 p.m. in Newton County, within the jurisdiction of Troop D.

The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox suffered serious injuries in the collision, the patrol reported. The driver of the Jeep Gladiator sustained moderate injuries and was transported for medical treatment, according to the same report.

Light drizzle was falling in the area at the time, according to weather data.
