Young child dead after a bicycle accident in Fremont (Fremont, CA)

A 7-year-old child was killed following a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Fremont.

As per the initial information, the fatal bicycle accident took place at around 3:45 p.m. on Montrose Avenue. The early reports showed that a vehicle was heading on Montrose Avenue when it struck a 7 year-old riding a bicycle. The driver pulled over after the accident and remained at the scene until the responders arrived.

Paramedics rendered first aid to the juvenile before he was rushed to an area hospital. The juvenile unfortunately died of their injuries. Traffic was being diverted from the area and detours around the accident scene would likely last into the early morning while police crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
