A 22-year-old woman from Kearney was seriously injured Tuesday morning after her car collided with a tractor trailer parked in a truck parking area along southbound Interstate 35 north of Liberty, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 5:55 a.m., the Patrol's online crash report shows. A 2009 Lexus R35 was traveling south on I-35 when it struck a 2022 Volvo tractor trailer that was parked in the designated truck parking area, per the report.

The Lexus driver, the 22-year-old Kearney woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment, the Patrol said. A 40-year-old man from Weslaco, Texas, who was also involved, was not injured, according to the report.

Light drizzle was falling in the area at the time of the crash, according to weather data.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A is investigating the crash, logged as incident number 260403743.
