Woman killed, man injured following a wrong-way collision on 105 Freeway (Los Angeles, CA)

A woman lost her life and a man received injuries following an early-morning, wrong-way collision on the 105 Freeway near Los Angeles.

As per the initial information, the fatal head-on crash took place on the 105 Freeway east of the Nash Street exit. The authorities actively responded to the scene after getting reports of a traffic accident at about 1:14 a.m. on Saturday.

The preliminary reports showed that a female resident of LA was driving her silver 2015 Toyota Camry eastbound on the 105 Freeway, heading in the wrong direction on the westbound side. The reports also revealed that a 35-year-old resident of Manhattan Beach was driving his black 2017 Toyota Prius westbound in that same lane on the 105.

He reportedly veered to the right to try and avoid a head-on collision, but failed to do so and ended up colliding head-on with the woman’s car. The woman was declared dead at the scene. The man received major injuries and was rushed to the Harbor UCLA Medical Center for treatment.

Three lanes of the 105 Freeway were shut down between 1:45 a.m. and 3:49 a.m. on Saturday before reopening. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol contribute to the crash. No other details are available.

The accident remains under investigation.
