Woman killed after an auto-pedestrian collision in Knoxville (Knoxville, TN)

On Thursday night, a woman lost her life after being hit by a vehicle in Knoxville.

As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the area of Kingston Pike and Mohican Street at 7:30 p.m. after getting reports of an auto-pedestrian crash. On arrival, emergency crews rushed the woman to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in serious condition.

Her injuries were initially not considered to be life-threatening. However, UTMC staff later reported that she succumbed to her injuries a little after 10:00 p.m. Several witnesses informed the officers that the pedestrian was struck by a car while crossing the street outside of a crosswalk.

The driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene after the collision. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are made available.

The incident remains under review.
