On Monday, a woman suffered critical injuries following a fiery crash in SW Houston.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place in the 2200 block of Southwest Freeway at about 1:25 a.m. The preliminary investigation indicated that an officer tried to stop a vehicle with no lights on that was veering. According to the police, the driver pulled over and handed her driver’s license to the officer, then drove away from the scene leading to a chase.
The woman, who smelled of alcohol, was going on the Southwest Freeway, exited on the feeder and then slammed into a sign, causing the sign and the vehicle to get engulfed in flames. Firefighters freed the woman from the burning vehicle and put out the flames. Authorities believe that the woman was intoxicated at the time of the collision. She is listed in critical condition at this time. No other details are available.
