On Sunday, a woman lost her life following a multi-vehicle pile-up on Interstate 10 East near mile marker 248.
The fatal incident took place moments before 4 a.m. in which three vehicles were involved, with five people on board. According to the investigators, a sedan was traveling eastbound on I-10 when it hit an SUV for unknown reasons. The impact caused the SUV to smash into a guardrail. Shortly after, police reported that a third vehicle, a sedan, rear-ended the SUV.
The woman who was killed in the crash was a passenger in the SUV. She was declared dead at the scene. Another woman in the SUV was taken to the hospital for treatment, along with a woman in the third vehicle. Two men, who were also involved in the wreck, were not injured.
The accident remains under active review.
