A 58-year-old woman lost her life following a single-vehicle crash early Friday on a rural road in northeastern San Diego County.
As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place on State Route 78. The early reports showed that the woman was driving east on State Route 78 in Ramona when she failed to maintain control of the Saturn SC2 at around 2 a.m.
The compact car swerved off the south side of the road, went into a dirt ravine and struck a barbed-wire fence before rolling over. The driver was thrown from the vehicle in the process. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The name of the woman, a Ramona resident, will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. DUI is believed to have contributed to this crash. No other details are available.
