A woman succumbed to her injuries after she was run down by a car in the parking garage at Piedmont Hospital earlier this month.
The preliminary reports showed that the victim was in an argument with a woman when she was pushed in front of a car on March 1. On arrival, responding officials found an elderly woman pinned underneath a car. Firefighters utilized a jack to lift the car and pull the woman out.
She was then rushed to the hospital not alert, conscious or breathing. Officers detained the suspect, 69-year-old Gloria Franklin, at the scene. Franklin was initially charged with aggravated assault. She has now additionally been charged with voluntary manslaughter.
The driver who struck the victim was not charged. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
