Woman dead after being hit by a car in Phoenix (Phoenix, AZ)

A woman lost her life after getting struck by a car early Friday morning in Phoenix.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place at around 3:45 a.m. on Dec. 31 near 21st Street and Thomas Road. The early reports showed that an adult female pedestrian was crossing Thomas Road mid-block when she was hit by a vehicle.

The woman was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The driver remained at the scene after the collision. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Thomas is blocked from 20th to 22nd Streets while crews work at the scene. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
