A woman lost her life after getting hit by a car Saturday while she was walking in a crosswalk in Gardena.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at Vermont and Marine avenues at about 6 p.m., close to the southwest corner of Rosecrans Park and a city recreation center. The preliminary reports showed that the female pedestrian was walking across Vermont when a Toyota Prius traveling southbound struck her.
On arrival, medics rushed the victim to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Her identity remains undisclosed at this time. According to the authorities, the coroner’s office was still searching for the woman’s family.
It is unknown whether police were investigating the Prius driver for a crime. It is also not known if the driver remained at the scene. No further details are available.
