A woman lost her life following a two-vehicle accident on late Wednesday night in Sun Valley.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place in the area of Lankershim Boulevard and San Fernando Road at approximately 10:45 p.m. The early reports showed that a Nissan Versa was traveling east on Lankershim Boulevard when it failed to stop at a red light. Just then, the car crashed into a Lexus that was heading north on San Fernando Road.
The force of collision caused the Nissan to slam into a power pole and knock down power lines. A woman in her 30s driving the Nissan suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The incident left 555 L.A. Department of Water and Power customers without power for multiple hours Thursday morning, but has since been restored.
The downed power lines also closed Metrolink Antelope Valley train service between the Sylmar and Sun Valley stations as crews worked to clean up the scene. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are immediately available.
The incident remains under active review.
