On Wednesday night, a woman lost her life after a two-vehicle accident on Barksdale Boulevard.
As per the initial information, the fatal bicycle crash was reported a little before 6 p.m. on Barksdale Boulevard near Fullilove Drive. The preliminary investigation showed that a female bicyclist was trying to cross Barksdale Boulevard when she got hit by a pickup truck that was heading southbound. On arrival, medics rushed the woman to a Shreveport hospital, but she later succumbed to her injuries.
Officers learned that the driver of the truck failed to avoid hitting the bicyclist. The driver was not believed to have broken any traffic laws. Alcohol was not involved in the accident. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
