Vehicle went into Mission Bay in Pacific Beach (San Diego, CA)

On early Tuesday, a man drove his car into Mission Bay in Pacific Beach.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident was reported just before 4:45 a.m. at 3701 Crown Point Dr. near Crown Point Park. The early reports showed that a vehicle went into Mission Bay for reasons that are yet to be known.

Rescuers and divers responded to the scene to save the driver, but the man was already out of the vehicle and on land and the vehicle remained submerged in the water. At this time, it is unknown why the man ended up in the water and if he suffered any injuries.

As of 7 a.m., the vehicle remained there with plans for it to be pulled out within approximately an hour. There was no one else in the vehicle at the time of the crash. It is unclear if the man will face charges in the accident. No other details are available.

The incident remains under investigation.
