Vehicle slams into a utility pole in Alpharetta; driver sought (Alpharetta, GA)

On Sunday, road were closed after an impaired driver smashed through a power pole in Alpharetta.

As per the initial information, the hit-and-run crash took place on Roswell Street. The early reports showed that a vehicle crashed into a utility pole and the driver fled the scene after the collision. Roswell Street was shut down between Milton Avenue and Marietta Street was blocked to allow Georgia Power crews to replace the downed utility pole.

The pole was divided in half with the bottom leaning against the top portion that was still upright due to the tension of the lines. Old Roswell Street was also affected due to the crash. According to the officers, 911 callers were able to give details of the vehicle and police managed to pull them over shortly after.

Officials found out that the driver was impaired and they arrested them. The incident affected the power of up to 500 customers in the area. A portion of Roswell Road was expected to be blocked through Monday morning. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
