Two teens died after a fiery car crash near Newcastle (Newcastle, CA)

Two teens lost their lives following a single-vehicle accident late Thursday night near Newcastle.

As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place just after 11 p.m. along Highway 193 near Dutch Court in Placer County. The preliminary reports showed that the Mini Cooper, being driven by an 18-year-old male from Lincoln, was traveling westbound along Highway 193 when it lost control and crashed off the road.

The car then slammed into a tree on the north shoulder of the road. The vehicle then caught fire due to the crash. A 16-year-old male from Loomis was a passenger in the car. The driver and the passenger both received major injuries in the crash. Both died as a result of the collision. Officials believe that speed was a factor in the car losing control. No other details are available.

The incident remains under investigation.
