On Wednesday night, two people were injured after a DUI suspect did not stop at a red light and then crashed into a bar, police confirmed.
As per the initial information, two cars collided with each other at the intersection of Broadway and G Street at about 8:20 p.m., just east of Interstate 5. The preliminary reports revealed that one of the drivers, a woman who was believed to be driving under the influence, ran a red light as she headed south on Broadway, leading to the collision at the intersection.
That same driver then rammed into the side of The Manhattan, a local sports bar, also on Broadway. Two people inside the bar reportedly incurred minor injuries. The crash also caused some damage to the building, including a hole in one of the walls. The business briefly lost power and gas due to the impact. The DUI suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
The other driver who was involved in the crash at the intersection was transported to a local hospital with minimal injuries. A building inspector would be summoned to take a look at the business and evaluate the full extent of the damage. No other details are available.
The incident remains under active review.
