Two people died late Tuesday night in a head-on collision on Highway 50 west of Monsees Road in Pettis County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report obtained by KMIZ.

The patrol reported that a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling east on Highway 50 around 11:30 p.m. when it crossed into oncoming traffic lanes. The vehicle then collided head-on with another car traveling in the opposite direction. The Silverado was driven by a 58-year-old man from Smithton, according to the crash report.

Both people involved in the crash were pronounced dead, the Highway Patrol confirmed. No injuries beyond the two fatalities were reported.

Light drizzle was falling in the area at the time of the crash, according to weather data.
