Two 20-year-old men from Joplin were injured Saturday afternoon when the vehicle they were traveling in crashed on Interstate 44 east of Mount Vernon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash, investigated by Patrol Troop D, was reported at 3:29 p.m. on I-44 about four miles east of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County. The Patrol's online crash report says a 2006 Lincoln Zephyr was traveling westbound when the incident occurred.
Both occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported for medical treatment, the Patrol said. No other vehicles were reported involved in the crash.
Light drizzle was falling in the area at the time, according to weather data.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash, identified in its records as incident number 260302351. Details may be updated as officials release more information.
