Two people were hurt early Monday when a box truck crashed on southbound Interstate 35 in Clay County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The patrol reported the crash occurred at 5:45 a.m. near mile marker 27.8, involving a single 2020 International box truck traveling south.

A 36-year-old man from Greenfield, Wisconsin, who was riding in the truck, sustained minor injuries, the patrol said. The vehicle's driver, a 48-year-old woman from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, suffered serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment.

No other vehicles were reported involved in the crash. The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop A is investigating the incident, cataloged under report number 260304756.
