Two people lost their lives following a crash involving two bicyclists in Chatsworth.
As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run accident took place in the 9500 block of North Lurline Avenue in Chatsworth. The early reports showed that the two bicyclists were hit by a red Toyota Tacoma at around 7:15 p.m. Both the victims were declared dead at the scene by the officials.
The Los Angeles Police Department located the vehicle involved with the hit-and-run nearby. The driver of the Toyota Tacoma was taken to the hospital and is now in police custody. The hit-and-run motorist, a man, was found about a half-mile away. Authorities believe he was involved in other collisions nearby.
According to police, the two victims, a man and a woman, were riding their bicycles next to the curb on North Lurline Avenue when a vehicle heading westbound hit the two and continued driving. Witnesses allege that the driver was speeding, going on the wrong side of the road and hitting other vehicles. It is unknown if drugs and alcohol were involved in these accidents.
