A truck towing a bus fatally hit and claimed life of a man in Peoria Wednesday night.
According to Peoria police, the man was passing through Olive Avenue while outside of a crosswalk near 91st Avenue at about 8:15 p.m. Meanwhile, a tow truck with a full size bus in tow stopped at the red light on Olive Avenue. Then, the man walked between the tow truck and the attached bus. The victim was standing between the two vehicles when the light turned green. The tow truck driver drove through the green light, running down the man through the bus in tow.
Police say the man sustained major head injuries and died on the scene. However, the tow truck driver did not suffer any injuries. Furthermore, authorities have released the name and age of the victim. The tow truck driver remained at the scene. Police say that he assisted the investigators and did not display any symptoms of impairment.
Peoria police are looking into this crash. Additionally, investigators believe that speed did not play a factor and this seems to be a tragic accident. Currently, police have not arrested anyone and not issued any citations.
